Next time you’re at the Farmer’s Market to grab a bite to eat, drop by Dutch Home!
Something for Everyone
Delicious doughnuts, fresh meats, crafts, and furniture. Sounds like a real mix of products, doesn’t it?
Well, it is! And it’s all wrapped into a neat package at an Amish farmers market.
Great food is often the center of attraction at the market. Walk in the entrance and your senses are assailed with the homey smells of baked goods and coffee. Christmas candy tempts your eyes, and fresh cuts of meat remind you to buy a pork roast and sauerkraut for New Year’s Day. Further into your shopping experience, you find crafts, homemade gifts, and a large display of indoor and outdoor handcrafted furniture. Oh, and before you entered the market, did you notice all the sheds on display?
Origin of Farmer’s Markets
Why such a vast collection of goods in one place? Many Amish farmers markets began within the last 20 years as Amish merchants explored ways to expand beyond Lancaster County, PA. Many of these merchants banded together into farmers markets, duplicating the Lancaster County experience under one roof for the local people of other areas.
Today, Amish farmers markets can be found not only in PA, but also in Delaware, Maryland, and New Jersey.
Never thought of buying home furnishings at an Amish farmer’s market? Dutch Home Furniture has décor and high-quality, Amish-made furniture for every room in your house. Plus, we have outdoor furniture and structures for your backyard. It’s all available to you directly from the market.
